José Saramago School

Agrupamento de Escolas José Saramago is a cluster of schools working in a very critical context. It consists of five schools, 851 students, 76 teachers, 27 technical and operational employees. Since September 2009 it is covered by the Program for Educational Territories of Priority Intervention (TEIP). In this framework it has been working with a staff of 90 teachers on four areas:

  • Student learning
  • Internal organization
  • Family engagement
  • LLT for teachers

Strategies adopted for fighting the dropout problem are based on alternative curriculum pathways, Integrated Program for Education and Traning (PIEF) and Education and Training Courses (CEF’S).
